This Privacy Policy describes how Radar Detector ("we", "us", "the app") handles information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Location Data

The app accesses your device's GPS location to:

• Detect your proximity to speed cameras and provide alerts
• Display your position on the map
• Determine which road you are on for accurate radar filtering

Your location data is processed entirely on your device. It is never transmitted to our servers or any third party. Location data is not stored beyond the current session, except for a "last known location" coordinate saved locally to improve app startup.

Locally Stored Data

The following data is stored only on your device:

• Speed camera database (downloaded from OpenStreetMap)
• Road speed limit data (downloaded from OpenStreetMap)
• Offline map tiles
• User-added radar locations
• App preferences and settings

Data Shared with OpenStreetMap

If you choose to upload radar locations to OpenStreetMap, the following is shared with the OpenStreetMap Foundation:

• The GPS coordinates of radars you manually upload
• Associated metadata (speed limit, direction, camera type)
• Your OpenStreetMap username (required by OSM for edit attribution)

This sharing is entirely optional and requires explicit user action and OSM account authentication.

Third-Party Services

Google AdMob

We use Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect:

• Advertising ID
• Device information
• Approximate location (for ad targeting)

Pro subscribers do not see any ads, and AdMob is not active for them.

Google Play Billing

If you subscribe to the Pro version, the transaction is handled entirely by Google Play. We do not collect or store any payment information.

OpenStreetMap / Overpass API

The app downloads speed camera and road data from OpenStreetMap via the Overpass API. These requests include:

• Geographic bounding box coordinates (region you're downloading)
• A user-agent string identifying the app

No personal data is sent in these requests.

OSRM (Route Calculation)

If you use the Trip Planning feature, route calculations are performed via the OSRM public API. This sends:

• Start and end coordinates for your trip

No personal identifiers are included in these requests.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your name, email, or phone number
• We do not track your driving history or routes
• We do not transmit your GPS location to any server
• We do not sell any data to third parties
• We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs (beyond AdMob)

Permissions

The app requests the following permissions:

• Location (always) — to detect speed cameras while driving, including with the screen off
• Internet — to download radar/road data and display ads
• Foreground Service — to keep radar detection running in the background
• Notifications — to show service status and download progress
• Wake Lock — to keep the CPU active for detection with screen off

Data Retention

All app data is stored locally on your device. If you uninstall the app or clear its data, all information is permanently deleted. We have no server-side data to retain or delete.

Children's Privacy

This app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
